Copy-paste prompts for working with UserGems from Claude or ChatGPT.
Before we begin
Most people have more than one MCP connected, and your assistant decides which one to answer with based on how the question sounds. "Show me my top accounts" reads like a CRM question, so it goes to Salesforce and scans thousands of records to hand back something slow and generic. UserGems answers the same question in one filtered call with scoring, buying stage, and live signals already attached.
So tell it which tool to use. In Claude, ask it to call UserGems. In ChatGPT, select the UserGems tool before you send.
Set it up once
Paste this wherever your assistant keeps standing instructions, such as project instructions or memory in Claude, or custom instructions in ChatGPT. Then you can run anything below without naming UserGems every time.
Tool routing for UserGems:
Use the UserGems MCP as the first choice for anything involving accounts, prospects, contacts, buying signals, intent, account or contact scoring, buying stages, job changes, past champions, website visitors, audiences, or campaigns. UserGems returns scoring and signal context the CRM does not have, and filters within our own account universe rather than scanning the full CRM.Use the CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot) only for data UserGems does not hold: opportunity amounts and stages, closed-won history, quotes, cases, custom objects, and anything requiring a write. If a question could be answered by either, use UserGems first and only fall back to the CRM if UserGems returns nothing useful. Never scan the full CRM to answer a question about which accounts or people to prioritize.

Try this prompt to get started: "What can I do with the UserGems MCP?"
Three habits worth having
Work in steps. Find the account, ask about the account, then draft the email. One prompt trying all three does the first well and the rest poorly.
Start small, then widen. Cap the first pass low, such as ten accounts or five people. Confirm it looks right, then raise the number.
Anchor your dates. "In the last 30 days" beats "recently."
Find
- If you have other MCPs connected, specify "UserGems" in your prompt, otherwise it may try to scan your entire CRM to find an account or contact.
- For faster results, ask for a count before you show a list. "How many accounts match X" is much faster than "Show me all the accounts that match X."
- Ask for "not contacted in the last X months" if you're trying to create an actionable list.
- Say whether you mean the person or the account. "Not contacted in the last 3 months" defaults to the person, and a colleague at that account may have been emailed last week.
- Scores are letter grades, A to D. Ask for "grade B or better."
Search accounts by any filter (Rep, Admin)
Show me accounts in the [Industry] industry with more than [500] employees tagged as [Target] accounts. Give me the top 10 by score, with the top 3 prospects at each who haven't been contacted yet.Find a person at a company (Rep)

Show me accounts where the most recent opportunity was Closed Lost that also have at least one past champion or user working there now. Cap it at 20 accounts.Find people with a specific set of signals (Rep, Admin)
Across my target accounts, can you show me the top 10 prospects I should go after? Ideally past champions or revive closed lost prospects who joined an account showing intent or website visitors.Find a list of untouched high scoring accounts (Admin)
Show me our top 50 scored accounts. How many of these have not been contacted yet this month?Reach out
- Gem-E drafts. It never sends. Nothing goes out until you send it yourself.
- Surface the person first before asking to draft. Search for them or find the top prospects, then ask for the draft.
- All messages Gem-E writes use content and instructions directly from your UserGems command center.
- If a draft feels off-message, ask what Gem-E sees. It will show you which pieces of content matched this person.
Draft a few emails to choose from (Rep)
Draft three openers for [Person Name]: one leading with the job change, one with the funding round, one with a peer customer story. All under 90 words.Draft for the whole buying group (Rep)
I want to multi-thread into [Account Name]. Show me the four people I should reach, then draft a different email to each, same story, angled to what each person cares about given their role.See what Gem-E knows before you send (Rep, Admin)
For [Person Name], show me everything Gem-E sees: the full messaging data, which case studies and value props would match, and any other content that applies to this person.Draft a follow-up from the last conversation (Rep)
What was said the last time we talked to [Account Name], and what happened with that opportunity? Then draft a follow-up to [Person Name] that picks up where it left off.Build
- Nothing you build goes live on its own. You activate it inside UserGems. The exception is adding an action to a campaign that's already running.
- Name a play (for example, Revive Closed Lost) and it walks you through the whole build, from audience to actions.
- When building an audience, say "or" when you mean either signal. "And" means both on the same record (for example, build me an audience of folks who visited our website or have shown intent).
- Editing a saved audience changes every campaign using it. Ask which campaigns are using it before making any changes.
Build a campaign by naming the play (Admin)
Build a [past champions] campaign for people now at [Target] accounts.Build an audience and check its size (Admin)
Build me an audience of accounts tagged [Enterprise ICP] where nobody at the account has been contacted in the last [90] days, and that are showing contact-level intent or website visitor activity.
Tell me how many accounts match before showing me any records.Build a campaign from a full spec (Admin)
Create a campaign called [Q3 Past Champions - Enterprise].
Audience: past champions now at VP or above, at accounts tagged [Target] with [1,000]+ employees.
Actions: create the record in the CRM, generate Gem-E messages, then add to a sequence owned by the account owner.
Run it weekly on [Tuesdays] at [10am].Show me the whole thing before you create it.Add an action to a campaign (Admin)
Add a [Send to Slack] action to campaign [name], after the [Writing Agent] step.Create a new sub signal (Admin)
Create a page-level sub-signal under our website visitor signal called [Pricing Page], matching any URL containing [/pricing] or [/plans]. Set the importance score to [80].Research
- Mention UserGems in your prompt if you have other MCPs that could trigger a search.
- Accounts have to already exist in your UserGems command center before you can research them.
- Be specific about which account you mean if you have several with similar names.
- Asking what was said on a call needs Past Interactions. Without it you'll get deal history, not call content.
Get a full brief on an account (Rep, Admin)
Give me a full brief on [Account Name]. Firmographics, what buying stage they're in, what signals are firing right now, recent funding, and any news.Prep for a call in the next 20 minutes (Rep)
I have a call with [Account Name] in 20 minutes. Short version: what's changed in the last 90 days, who we know, and what I should open with.Understand why an account is scored the way it is (Rep, Admin)
Why is [Account Name] scored the way it is? Break down the score and what's driving it.See how an account has changed over time (Rep, Admin)
Show me the signal and scoring history for [Account Name] from [January 1] through today. When did they first hit each buying stage, and which signals appeared or dropped off along the way?Find out what was said last time (Rep)
What did we discuss with [Account Name] the last few times we spoke? Specifically, did [pricing] come up, and did anyone mention a competitor?Audit
- Scope to active campaigns so it doesn't scan your deactivated or archived workflows.
- Say UserGems in your prompt. "Campaign" means something different in Salesforce, so another connection may answer instead.
- Ask for a list first so you're working from real names. Search matches what things are actually called, not how you describe them.
- Audit one thing at a time. Stacking several questions into one prompt across hundreds of campaigns is slow and the answer gets muddled.
