Ideal Customer Profile

What it is?

Your Ideal Customer Profile in UserGems helps UserGems understand which accounts are a good fit for your business. While you can always provide UserGems a list of known target/ICP accounts, this definition is meant to help capture the unknown good fit accounts and prioritize them and the people at these accounts accordingly.

Generating Your ICP

To generate or update your ICP, select “ICP and Scoring” in the navigation bar

Your ICP in UserGems will be made up of 3 elements:

  1. Number of employees
  2. Industries
  3. Regions and Countries

To know which accounts are most important to enable and track signals on, we first need to know who you already sell to.

For this, we can import your Customer or Open Opportunity accounts.

  1. Select “+ Add ICP” in the upper right corner
  2. Select your source:
    1. Company Type – all reports matching the company type
    2. Report – specific report (if you need additional filtering)

This way our AI can reference this data to find lookalike accounts and generate a relevant Ideal Customer Profile based on company size, location, industry, and other data points. We can then surface new company and people level signals at ICP accounts regardless of if they are or are not in your CRM.

ICP Coverage

Once you've uploaded the above, you can click “Show Suggestions” and review recommendations to further improve your coverage.

Further validate your ICP settings by comparing the criteria against your most recent customers using the chart "ICP status of your most recent customers" at the bottom of the page.

Creating Multiple ICP's

Many teams sell to more than one type of ideal customer. For example, different segments by company size, industry, region, or go-to-market motion. Multiple ICPs let you model those differences explicitly, so UserGems can more accurately identify, score, and prioritize accounts and people across each segment.

This is especially helpful when:

  • You have distinct buyer profiles with different signals of intent.
  • You want more precise scoring across overlapping segments.
  • You sell into multiple markets or regions with different fit criteria.

How to add and prioritize multiple ICPs

Follow the steps above, then click + Add ICP, name your new ICP, and select the report or company list you want UserGems to analyze.

Once you have multiple ICPs created, you can drag and drop them to set priority.

Why priority matters:
If an account matches more than one ICP, UserGems will use the scoring model from the highest-priority ICP to determine that account’s score. This ensures the most relevant ICP definition drives scoring when segments overlap.

You can adjust ICP order at any time as your strategy evolves.

As with any UG setting, your CSE will review this with you during onboarding and can tweak as needed.
